12/19/2023 0 Comments Rumpus room design ideasPerhaps you've already finalised your design but a few suggestions to consider with a rough sketch to show your designer: upstairs has rumpus room over the garage as a true noisy room, master suite with view as quiet parent's retreat and made a more comfortable family bathroom.downstairs the entry is so huge a tiny office could be useful and a full wall of storage for more than linen and coats. At the end of the day Houzz is a business, just like Facebook, that relies on the advertising dollar and making the best use of others generosity to provide content. The professionals who pay to be on Houzz are actually advertisers and pay to keep the whole website running. It actually devalues the service the generous professional is offering, and only really assists the competition. There is litlle benefit for a professional to take the time to do a little sketch for a project where the client is clearly committed to another professional, apart from getting a nice warm feeling. Many professionals actually pay Houzz for the opportunity for exposure in the hope that people will like what they do and will engage them for their design services, and get paid by their new clients from Houzz. Which is why most professionals won't complete little sketches for free as it devalues their paid service. The professionals in this forum are not paid by Houzz, but are paid by our clients for our design services and advice. Sorry for the misunderstanding on your first post. But advice I'd give as always is if you're not happy with it and if it's feeling wrong then it needs to adjust and change so that it's not bugging you - usually your instincts are right so I think you're on the right track - hope this helps best of luck :) PD It's not so simple to answer here and probably something best you work through with your draftsman/company you're building with. What you'd have to do is move the stair over to somewhere where the dining room is so it's out of the way and then likely flip/mirror the upper level in layout so the stair landing points work to the passage/flow of the upper level. For what it's worth I think the ground floor is the higher priority from the layout/experience/vistas etc as the upper floor is more functional so arguably the upper level could be open for a flip around if stair is given some priority. You can shift it but it will consequent in changes required to the upper level. The problem is when you resolve a 2 level plan this is one of the first elements that needs to be locked in. We've been here a few times before with people asking about how to fix/resolve the "stair in the wrong place" issue. Without studying the plan in too much detail I was wondering why the rumpus room could not be pushed out to the eastern boundary to mirror the pushout at the rear to give you more width, more street presence and a wider bay view?Īh yes the old stair issue. The master bedroom at the rear will be quite private, but if it was at the front you would probably have curtains drawn most of the time for your own privacy from the street (and miss out on the bay view). So if you are going to have a TV in the upstairs living room I would go with the shadier room, which also has the view, and it will have a better feel with the larger windows. However it doesn't get much direct sunlight in comparison with the master bedroom as it faces south. The room at the front, which is currently the rumpus, doesn't have such restrictions as it is overlooking the street, and not somebody else's private open space.
